Well Water Pressure Problems!?
We recently bought a cottage with a well. The well was inspected and tested for bacteria before we closed on the property & everything was fine. Pressure was great, well and tank looked good, etc. The only issue was low level bacteria so we decided to have the well techs treat the well with chlorine. They accidentally did a shock treatment on the well. We returned to run the chlorine out of the system and were disgusted to see filthy black and iron filled water. We were told this was normal and that if we kept running off the water that it would soon run clear. We then discovered that our water pressure was horrible as well. So I took all of the screens off of the faucets and changed the carbon filter. Still low water pressure. I finally just bypassed the filter to run the water off and got normal water pressure back & had finally almost cleared the water...when boom the water shut off (no water at all..just air). The pressure tank now reads 0 PSI. Can anyone help?
Sounds like the pump quit. The pressure tank shouldn't read zero if the pump is filling it, even if the tank has busted internally. Close to zero, but not zero. Take the water line loose at the in side of the pressure tank and see if you're getting water. Shut off the breaker to the pump first and have someone flip it on and be standing ready to flip it back off before you get a flood.
