How long a battery backup UPS to run a filter for the aquarium?
I was looking at getting a battery backup UPS for me to Boxing aquarium sale ... However, I see the specifications of some, and found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842117004 I I need to know approximately how long will my aquarium filter and air pump? I have an AquaClear 50 filter, and my air pump and only runs on 3 watts or less. Anyone have any idea?
the duration of the emergency power depends on the capacity in amp-hours of battery contained in AH. Most batteries used in these things usually have a rating of 4 AH. that means the battery can provide 1 amp for 4 hours or 4 amperes for 1 hour. at 12 volts which usually translates to 48 watt-hours. I'm not familiar with the power requirement for its aqua clear, but lets assume its 10 watts, plus 3 watts of the air pump gives 48 / (10 + 3) = 3.7 hours theoretically assuming my assumptions are correct. Either way, this is a simplified way of saying it. to reach point, you can extend the working time by installing additional large batteries, but will have to go outside and probably void warranty. to add, simply plug the extra battery in parallel polarity care course. However, be warned that every time you handle electrical equipment there is always the danger of electrocution. please be careful if you do what you just described. i only offered for information that and not I advise you to. be careful.
