Devil Vibe

i was vacuuming and it overheated what should i do?

well i was vacuuming and this stupid string of carpet hade to be there and my um overheated know when i turn it on it smell horrible like when i turn it on the air coming out smell bad so wat should i do. my va cum is a dirt devil vibe plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help

Being that it's a Dirt Devil, it's probably shot, but there are a few things you can do to see verify.

Turn the vacuum upside-down and clean the brush roll of string, hair, and debris. Remove the belt cover and check the belt for damage, replace it if you're uncertain. While the vacuum is disassembled, make sure the air pathways are clear of debris and clogs, clean or replace the filters and bag. Reassemble the vacuum and test it out. If the odor persists, the motor is probably shot and it's time for a new vacuum.
