MONTGOMERY WARD/EUREKA VINTAGE UPRIGHT VACUUM CLEANER
This is the MONTOMERY WARD SIGNATURE CUSTOM MODEL SP 836 B UPRIGHT VACUUM (by Eureka) of about 1970. It has deluxe features of handle grip, 2 speed 3.5 Amp Motor, big top silk type zipper bag, cordwinder, headlight, 5 position height from shag to patio and metal base. It is a very attractive combination of tan, off white, chrome, and the all important woodgrain nameplate. It was found in amazing near new condition. I have done only the most minimal cleanup of wiping upper areas that dust would settle on, vacuuming small amount of dust from motor and bottom and no cleanup of brush or brush housing. I didn't even have to change the light bulb. As pictures show, it seems to have had equivalent of 2 years of careful use in a home with no pet or smoke conditions.
It is easier to list what is wrong first. Brush shows some wear and is re-adjusted to worn position, plug is replacement, height knob shows some fading and there is slight rust at corner of bottom plate.
Otherwise excellent with good cord and winder and nice paint and bumper. Silk type bag is near ment with good zipper, strap, silver scuff plate and label showing which bags to get at your Montgomery Ward Store. Motor runs well at both speeds, sounds good and cleans very well as these models always did. Metal fan has slight scratches with no chips.
You might want to carefully hand wash this bag. Then insert Eureka F-G Micron bag, new belt and start making up for the times this vacuum sat unused.
