This is an Electrolux Model V from 1924, manufactured in Sweden and exported to the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, Australia and Spain. This version is an American specimen, running on 110v/60c.
This version of the Model V is the earliest-of-the-earliest: Several variations of the Model V were made, with the "stick vac" style you see here being the first. This version did not have a hose or attachments, just a short wand that connected directly to the motor unit and a rug tool that attached to the wand.
This Electrolux is 100% all original, including the original woven-cloth cord, the Bakelite plug, the canvas carrying strap, the dust bag, and the filter.
This Electrolux has been in storage for at least 15 years. It originally belonged to a retired Electrolux salesman in Los Angeles from whom I purchased it. He had kept it in storage with a number of other old Electroluxes.
This Electrolux requires oiling. I was concerned about the fact that after sitting for all those years without being oiled, the bearings are surely as dry as a bone. I did instill a few drops of oil into the two oil ports, but the motor really should be thoroughly oiled at interals of 3-4 hours before powering up the motor, allowing the oil to seep in for a day or so.
I was a bit worried about the electrical connections so I was afraid to turn it on. The last time I did so, a shorted-out lead inside a vacuum cleaner blew out the master fuse for my entire apartment building!
So, just to see if this Electrolux runs, I turned on the switch and then, standing a safe distance away, very quickly stuck the plug in and out of an extension cord for like a 10th of a second and the motor did fire up. However, I would suggest that the winning bidder not run this Electrolux without taking it apart and giving it a good servicing; otherwise, the bearings may get ruined.
Beyond this very brief test, I don't know how well it runs or for how long it will run. Therefore, this is being sold as an untested, as-is appliance; please bid accordingly.
While certainly not a candidate for "daily driving," after being cleaned up and polished (Mag Mother's Metal Polish will do wonder on the metal end caps of the housing), this gem could be the centepiece of a vacuum cleaner collection due to its age and condition. You just don't run across these golden-oldies anymore!

Standing at attention!

Stretched out in a sweet repose.

The detachable wand and nozzle.

Seen from the rear.

Another rear shot showing the sexy "Steam Punk" motor housing!

Showing how the Early Model V Electrolux is operated. (Note: You do not have to run the Electrolux in bare feet!)

The beautiful nameplate on the top of the motor housing. Very Masonic looking somehow.

"Ser. 525, No. 9900, Volt 110, 60~"

Pistol grip with elephant motif in Bakelite -- an early Electrolux icon. (It's rare to find these Bakelite inlays in such excellent condition.)

The original cloth-covered cord.

The original, intricately designed Bakelite plug. (Note: Use of Bakelite, one of the first synthetic 'plastic' compounds, was revolutionary at that time since Bakelite had only just been invented in 1920.)

Here you can see that a little chunk of the Bakelite plug has gotten broken off and how the insulation inside the cord has become frayed.

The canvas carrying strap.

The cloth dirt bag.

The filter unit, assembled.

The filter unit, disassembled.

Looking inside the bag chamber. So shiny!
